What Makes a Pleasant Day?
- One definition could be: The ability to do my work well and interact with others in a positive manner within an environment that promotes efficiency.
Doing My Work: Tips for Efficiency
- Prioritize tasks (may need clarification from supervisor).
- Gather needed supplies.
- If possible perform hardest tasks early in the day (this leaves extra time to complete if needed).
- Don’t procrastinate"do "it".
Interacting Positively With People
- Treat the other person as you would want to be treated.
- Don’t forget to say "please" and "thank you".
- Always use good telephone manners.
- Remember to speak to others.
- Actively listen.
- Don’t allow someone else to determine what your mood will be. You have a choice.
Efficient Environment
- Get organized (wastes less time looking for things).
- Eliminate clutter (keep only what is necessary).
- Be sure you have the supplies needed.
- If you get it out, put it away.
High Maintenance Co-Workers (AKA: People that "drain you").
- You cannot be all things to all people.
- Say "yes" when your heart tells you to.
- Say "no" when your gut tells you to.
- You are not responsible for someone else.
- There are "givers" and "takers". Don’t allow the "takers" to overwhelm you.
